The motor structure can be divided into four types: wet type, dry type, semi-dry type and oil-filled type. The motor of the wet submersible pump is filled with air with a certain pressure, and has a reliable sealing device, so that water cannot be immersed in the motor. Due to the complex sealing structure and high manufacturing and installation accuracy, it is not easy to repair after wear. Works better in oil or similar oily liquids.

Semi-dry submersible pump is also called canned submersible pump. A thin sleeve (made of plastic or stainless steel) is installed between the stator and rotor to seal the stator windings so that water cannot touch the stator windings while the rotor is submerged in water. It is characterized by reliable stator winding insulation and not easy to corrode. However, the large gap between the stator and the rotor and the large magnetic resistance limit the diving depth. And complex to manufacture and maintain.

The oil-filled submersible pump fills the inner cavity of the motor with liquids such as transformer oil or stator oil, which play the role of insulation, cooling and lubrication. According to the internal structure of the motor, it is divided into general sealing and pressure. The anti-corrosion requirements of the motors of the two pumps are low, and ordinary enameled wires can be used for the windings. However, the structure is complex, the rotor resistance is large, and it is easy to pollute the well water, so it is not suitable for pumping drinking water.
